Below you have a video that will show you how to correctly make the settings in the Modem section of the UAV 4G Tool. After watching this video, you can read the detailed settings explained below it :
Modem Settings:
On the Modem page, as you can see, we have 3 columns that help us to configure the modem correctly, and these settings are primarily for stick modems. Those who use HILINK modems, their modem will be automatically detected, or they just need to click on the HILINK button, and within a few seconds, the LED will light up in green next to it, indicating that the connection is established.
1. MODEM HILINK: -THIS TYPE OF MODEM IS RECOMANDATED –
The modem will be automatically detected, and you will have the green LED lit next to the HILINK button. If you don’t have the green LED lit and it’s red, which is unlikely, then press the HILINK button and wait for it to turn green.
2. modem STICK: -It’s okay, but it’s harder to set up. You need to follow the steps precisely-
a. PRESS STICK BUTTON IN COLUMN 1:
Type Modem Use even if the LED next to the STICK button has a red status. Move on to column 2, STICK MODEM SETINGS, and start entering the data for your GSM operator (which can be found on their official page).
b. ENTER the APN: -see video uplow-
In some countries, operators do not use any APN, so leave it unchanged. If you need to enter one, enter it and press the UPDATE button in the APN field, and in column 4, the Curent APN field will display your APN, indicating its status. If it doesn’t appear, enter it again and press the UPDATE button.
d. ENTER the Phone number: -see video uplow-
Enter the phone number of your GSM operator in the country and network (you can find this on their website). In some countries, the GSM operator does not use a connection phone number, and in this case, do not enter anything. If you need to set one, enter it in the Phone field and press the corresponding UPDATE button. On the right-hand side, in column 4, the set phone number will appear with the status of Current Phone Number.
e. ENTER the Username: -see video uplow-
Enter the username of your GSM operator in the country and network (you can find this on their website). In some countries, the GSM operator does not use a connection username, and in this case, do not enter anything. If you need to set one, enter it in the Username field and press the corresponding UPDATE button. On the right-hand side, in column 4, the set username will appear with thestatus of Current Username.
IMPORTANT: If you mistakenly entered another username and realized that your operator does not require you to set this, enter ” ” (space between quotes) with the quotes separated by a space. The ” ” status indicates that no username is set. The same applies to the PASSWORD field.
f. ENTER the Password: -see video uplow-
Enter the password of your GSM operator in the country and network (you can find this on their website). In some countries, the GSM operator does not use a connection password, and in this case, do not enter anything. If you need to set one, enter it in the Password field and press the corresponding UPDATE button. On the right-hand side, in column 4, the set password will appear with the status of Current Password.
IMPORTANT: If you mistakenly entered another password and realized that your operator does not require you to set this, enter ” ” (space between quotes) with the quotes separated by a space. The ” ” status indicates that no password is set.
REINITIALIZE STICK MODEM BUTTON:
This button is the last button you press after you have entered all the correct data in the mentioned fields and it initiates or resets the process of connecting the STICK modem and connecting to the internet. The process takes about 6 seconds, after which the LED on the modem will remain on and indicate a successful connection.
In case you entered something incorrectly, repeat the entire process from the beginning, enter the correct data in the corresponding fields, and then perform the reset again.
You can see the status of the internet connection in the dashboard, where it is indicated on the first line: “Internet up or down” with a green or red LED. Alternatively, in the RASPBERRY menu, you can perform an internet speed test or a ping to Google with a return status in the console, but we will discuss these things in the RASPBERRY section.
ALL OF THIS SETUP PROCESS FOR STICK MODEMS WILL NOT BE NECESSARY IF YOU USE A HILINK MODEM. THAT’S WHY I RECOMMEND USING A HILINK MODEM ON USB, REGARDLESS OF THE MODEL, BUT I RECOMMEND HUAWEI E3372H.
